Part of Xiaomi guides, HyperOS guides, 2026 guides.

HyperOS 4 has been ported to the Xiaomi Pad 5, and you can install it without a PC, without Termux and without typing a single command. Three taps in the free Rom Flasher tool, confirm the format, and the tablet boots into the new UI. It comes pre-rooted with KernelSU, but the Xiaomi Pen and keyboard do not work yet.

The video starts muted so it does not blast at you — tap the speaker to hear it, or open it on YouTube.

No PC in the room? The free Rom Flasher tool runs the whole flash from the phone in your hand — USB-OTG cable, no laptop, no command line.

Every ROM guide starts with a PC, a cable, and a list of commands. This one does not. HyperOS 4 is running on the Xiaomi Pad 5 and you can put it there from the tablet itself, sitting on the couch, with nothing but taps.

That is a real change in how this feels. No driver to fight, no platform tools, no black window scrolling partition names at you. If you have ever given up halfway through a fastboot guide, this is the install for you.

What you need

That last one matters. The data format is part of the process, not optional.

Step 1 — connect and let the tool see the tablet

Open the free Rom Flasher tool. It picks up the device on its own. If it does not see the tablet, sort that out here rather than pushing through.

Step 2 — reboot into fastboot and confirm

The tool sends the tablet to fastboot. You confirm on screen, which is a nice touch — you are not guessing whether it worked.

Step 3 — pick the ROM in the Flash section

Go to the Flash section and select your HyperOS 4 port. You can point it at either the ROM file or the extracted folder, whichever you have to hand. Then choose the Windows-style flash path when it asks, because the tool is built around that flow.

Step 4 — confirm the format and let it run

The tool asks you to confirm the data format. Say yes. Then let the flash run all the way to the end and keep your hands off the tablet while it does.

Step 5 — first boot

First boot takes a few minutes. Let it finish, run through setup, and you are in HyperOS 4.

What you get

What is broken right now

Straight from the port's own notes, and worth reading before you commit:

One honest paragraph

HyperOS 4 on a Pad 5 is a fun thing to have, and the no-PC install makes it harder to mess up than a command-line flash. The catch is that this is a fresh port and the missing pen and keyboard support are not small details on a tablet — they are the reason a lot of people bought the accessory in the first place.

So treat this as the build you test on the tablet, not the one you rely on. If you mostly watch, read and browse on it, you will probably be happy. If the keyboard lives attached to it, wait for that to get sorted.

Common questions

Can I install HyperOS 4 on the Xiaomi Pad 5 without a PC?

Yes. The free Rom Flasher tool runs on the tablet itself, so there is no PC, no Termux and no commands to type. You select the ROM in the Flash section, confirm the format, and let it run.

Does this HyperOS 4 port wipe the Xiaomi Pad 5?

Yes. The flash formats the data partition, so internal storage is cleared. Back up your photos and files before you start, and expect to run through setup afterwards.

Is HyperOS 4 pre-rooted on the Pad 5?

Yes. This port ships pre-rooted with KernelSU 1.0.5.80 Legacy, so root is already active and you do not need to patch and flash a boot image yourself.

Do the Xiaomi Pen and keyboard work on this HyperOS 4 port?

Not yet. The port's own notes list the Xiaomi Pen and the keyboard as not working, along with screen casting. If you rely on the keyboard, hold off on this build.

The tablet feels laggy after installing HyperOS 4. What can I do?

The port notes mention occasional lag. Memory Extension is off by default, and turning Advanced Textures off as well makes things smoother. Give a fresh port a reboot or two before you judge it.
