Project Infinity X v3.12 on POCO X7 Pro Smooth, Fast, Great Battery
Part of POCO guides, AOSP guides, 2026 guides.
Project Infinity X v3.12 on the POCO X7 Pro is a daily driver. The Windows tool
handled the whole flash without me typing a command, the interface is smooth,
Mi Camera is bundled in, and Play Store showed the device as certified. Battery is
fine rather than magic, and heavy gaming still eats through it.
The video starts muted so it does not blast at you — tap the speaker to hear it, or open it on YouTube.
I had been away from Project Infinity X for months, so flashing v3.12 on the POCO
X7 Pro was a proper catch-up rather than a small update. Here is what I found
after living with it for a while, because a ROM review that only covers the first
twenty minutes is not much of a review.
How the install went
This is the part I care about most, and it is the part that surprised me.
The Windows install took minutes. Fastboot, flash the recovery image, boot to
recovery, format data, sideload the ROM, reboot. I never typed a single command.
The tool runs each step for you, which means the usual evening of chasing driver
problems simply did not happen.
If you have ever spent an hour on fastboot devices returning nothing, you know
why that matters. The setup cost of a custom ROM is usually the reason people
give up, not the ROM itself.
What it looks like and how it feels
The UI is genuinely smooth. Scrolling lazily through long lists, switching
between apps, opening and closing things, it all holds up without that hitch that
makes you put the phone down.
There is plenty of customization, and it stops short of feeling stuffed. You can
go deep in the settings if you want to, and the defaults are sensible if you do
not. That balance is harder to get right than it sounds, and a lot of ROMs get it
wrong in one direction or the other.
What changed for the better
Two things stand out.
Mi Camera is bundled in. This matters more than it sounds on paper. Most AOSP
ROMs ship with a camera app that makes you wince, so you end up spending an
afternoon sideloading something better and hoping it survives the next update.
Having a camera that just works out of the box saves all of that.
Play Store showed the device as certified for me. That makes everyday life
easier, because apps that check the device before running tend to behave instead
of refusing to open.
What I tested
- Cold boot and how the system settled over the first hour
- Scrolling, app switching and animation smoothness
- Gaming load and how the phone handled heat
- Battery drain across a normal day
- Customization depth in the settings
- Mi Camera for basic photos and video
- Play Store certification and basic integrity
What is not perfect
Battery is fine, not magic. A normal day of messages, browsing and camera use got
me through without worry. Heavy gaming still chews through it, which is true of
this phone on any ROM, so I would not hold it against the build.
The honest caveat about the install method: when I filmed this, the Android app
was still being finished, so the route I used was the Windows tool. If you are
waiting for the phone-only flow, that was not ready yet on this build.
Who should install it
Install it if you want an AOSP-style ROM on the POCO X7 Pro that behaves like a
finished product rather than a project. The camera situation alone makes it an
easy recommendation, and the certification means your everyday apps are less
likely to complain.
Skip it if you need the camera app you already know and love from stock, or if
you spend most of your phone time in demanding games and battery life is your top
priority. Nothing here fixes the power draw of a heavy game.
Verdict
Project Infinity X v3.12 is a keeper on the POCO X7 Pro. Fast where it counts, it
does not fight you, and a camera that works out of the box saves an entire
afternoon. This is a daily driver, not a benchmark toy, and that is a compliment.
If you want the same experience without the command-line setup, the free Rom
Flasher tool runs this flash for you step by step. It is free, and the link is in
the downloads section.

Yes. It is smooth, has plenty of customization without feeling cluttered, and Play Store showed the device as certified for me, so everyday apps behave.
Does Project Infinity X v3.12 include a camera app?
Yes. Mi Camera is bundled in, which is a real advantage over most AOSP ROMs, where you usually end up sideloading a camera yourself.
How is the battery life on v3.12?
Fine for a normal day of messages, browsing and photos. Heavy gaming still drains the battery quickly, which is true of this phone regardless of the ROM.
Do I need a PC to flash Project Infinity X v3.12?
I used the Windows tool and never typed a command, since it runs each step for you. When I filmed this, the Android app version was still being finished.

It showed as certified for me on this build, which helps with apps that check the device before they run. Basic integrity passed as well.
Before you flash
- Back up everything you would miss — unlocking and flashing usually wipe the phone.
- Check the file is built for your exact model and region.
- Keep a PC and a working cable around so a bootloop can be recovered.
