Xiaomi Pad 5 Avium UI 16 Android 16 Flyme Windows Install
Part of Xiaomi guides, TWRP guides, 2025 guides.
Avium UI 16 is an unofficial Android 16 build for the Xiaomi Pad 5 that borrows some of Flyme's nicer tricks — small windows, status-bar lyrics, depth-of-field wallpapers. It ships with Gapps included, and it installs through the modded TWRP for the Pad 5.
The video starts muted so it does not blast at you — tap the speaker to hear it, or open it on YouTube.
This one is not trying to be a stock Pixel clone. That is the whole appeal. While most custom builds chase a cleaner AOSP look, Avium UI 16 leans into features that make a tablet fun to use — the kind of extras you only miss once they are gone.
It is a Gapps build, so Google apps are already in there. No separate package to flash, no order to get wrong on that front. You flash once and you are done.
Under the hood it runs kernel 4.14.356 and it is signed with a private key, built as release-keys. That is a small detail on paper, but a signed release build tends to behave more predictably than a debug build does. It is a good sign someone put real care into the release.
The install goes through the modded TWRP for the Pad 5, so have that image ready before you start. That recovery is not optional here — a stock or generic recovery is where this goes sideways.
What you need
- Unlocked bootloader on the Xiaomi Pad 5
- adb and fastboot, plus the driver, on your PC
- The modded TWRP image for the Pad 5 — link below
- The Avium UI 16 ROM file — link below
- A reliable USB cable and a backup
Step 1 — back up, then connect
Back up anything on the tablet you care about and connect it to your PC. Every step below ends with a wiped tablet, so get your files off first.
Step 2 — boot the modded TWRP recovery
Boot the modded TWRP image for the Pad 5. Type the recovery's filename exactly as it is, in the folder where the image sits. If the tablet drops back to fastboot or to a black screen, the recovery is the wrong one for this device, or the command did not take. Fix it here rather than pushing on.
Step 3 — format data
Format data so you start clean. Do this before the flash, not after. A build landing on top of old data is the most common route to a bootloop on the Pad 5, and there is no fixing it from inside the system once it happens.
Step 4 — flash Avium UI 16
Flash the ROM file in TWRP. Watch the output as it goes — if a line fails, stop and read it rather than flashing again on top. Avium UI 16 already includes Gapps, so you do not need to hang around for a second package.
Step 5 — reboot and let the first boot settle
Reboot to system and let the first boot settle. It takes longer than you would like, which is true of every fresh Android 16 install. Do not pull the cable and do not decide it has failed in the first minute.
Features worth noting
- Flyme-style small windows. Genuinely useful for multitasking on a big display. Floating a second app over the first is a different way to work on a tablet than split-screen alone.
- Lyrics in the status bar. A small thing that turns out to be fun when music is playing.
- Depth-of-field wallpapers. The home screen gets some depth instead of a flat image behind the icons.
- Signed with a private key, built as release-keys. A release-signed build rather than a debug one.
- Gapps already included. No extra package, no ordering to remember.
Where people get stuck
- Formatting data after the flash instead of before. Bootloop, every time. Format first.
- The wrong recovery. Use the modded TWRP for the Pad 5 specifically. Another device's recovery may boot far enough to look harmless and then fail mid-write.
- Impatience on first boot. It is slow. Let it finish.
One honest note
Unofficial builds are unofficial. There is no support line, and the feature set is whatever the builder decided to include — which here is a good thing, but it also means fixes come when someone gets to them. If the Flyme-style extras are what you want, that trade is worth it. If you need a build with a support promise behind it, look elsewhere.

Common questions
Does Avium UI 16 include Gapps?
Yes. It is a Gapps build, so Google apps are already present. You do not need to flash a separate Gapps package after the ROM.
Which recovery do I need to install Avium UI 16 on the Xiaomi Pad 5?
The modded TWRP image built for the Pad 5. A recovery for a different device can boot and then fail partway through the flash, so use the one linked for this tablet.
Why does my Pad 5 bootloop after flashing?
Data was almost certainly not formatted before the flash. Format data in recovery first, then flash the ROM, and let the slow first boot run to completion.
Does this wipe my data?
Yes. The data format erases internal storage, and the bootloader must be unlocked. Back up your files before you start.
What is special about a release-keys build?
Avium UI 16 is signed with a private key and built as release-keys rather than debug. Signed release builds tend to behave more predictably, which is a reasonable thing to want from a daily system.
Before you flash
- Back up everything you would miss — unlocking and flashing usually wipe the phone.
- Check the file is built for your exact model and region.
- Keep a PC and a working cable around so a bootloop can be recovered.
