EU MIUI 14.0.1.0 ROM Review on Xiaomi 11T Pro Is It Worth Flashing?
Part of Xiaomi guides, MIUI guides, 2023 guides.
EU MIUI 14.0.1.0 for the Xiaomi 11T Pro is a community take on MIUI rather than the stock global package, so you get the MIUI feature set with fewer preinstalled extras. It needs an unlocked bootloader and it wipes data, but root is optional. Worth flashing if you want MIUI with the EU tweaks and do not mind the upkeep.
The video starts muted so it does not blast at you — tap the speaker to hear it, or open it on YouTube.
The EU builds are a community effort, not a Xiaomi release. That matters, because the question "is it worth flashing" has a different answer depending on what you expect from it. If you expect a stock global package with a different number on it, you will be disappointed. If you expect MIUI with the annoying parts trimmed and a few useful extras unlocked, you are in the right place.
What I care about is not the feature list. It is what happens to the things I touch every hour: the notification shade, the launcher, the camera app, and how quickly the whole thing comes up from a cold start.
What it looks like
It looks like MIUI. Full stop. The launcher, the shade, the Settings layout, the recents — all familiar. For most people this is the whole point of the EU route. You are not learning a new interface, you are removing preload and getting options that stock does not expose.
Device here is the Xiaomi 11T Pro, codename vili. Same screen, same feel, same muscle memory.
What changed from stock global
The EU build gives you MIUI without the preinstalled extras that ship with the global package. That alone is a reason plenty of people flash it.
Beyond that, the difference is in the options the EU builds tend to open up rather than a list of new apps. Those are the parts I went through on the device instead of reading off a spec sheet.
The honest version: on the surface, this is a stock-like MIUI experience. The difference shows up over a week of use, in small moments — no clutter in the app drawer, fewer things you have to disable by hand, and a shade that behaves the way MIUI should.
What actually feels different in daily use
- Cold start. How quickly the whole thing comes up from off, and whether the first unlock after a boot feels sluggish.
- The notification shade. Whether it handles a heavy stack of notifications without the colours or the text contrast going wrong.
- The launcher. Whether it stays responsive when there are a lot of apps installed.
- The camera app. Whether it opens quickly and stays open, which is where custom builds usually stumble.
What stays genuinely stock
Be careful here, because this is where expectations drift. The core MIUI framework is MIUI. The camera is the MIUI camera app, not something rebuilt. The system animation and the MIUI-specific services are MIUI. You are not getting an AOSP base with a MIUI skin painted on.
That is good news if you want MIUI. It is not the build for you if you want something that is not MIUI at all.
What is broken
I did not hit anything that stopped the phone being usable. That is the honest line. A community build like this does have upkeep — you follow the thread, you read about problems before you flash, and you accept that a fix might take an update to arrive. Nobody is paying a support team here.
Who should install it
- Someone who wants MIUI, not AOSP, and is tired of the stock preload.
- Anyone who wants the EU feature set without learning a whole new interface.
- People who are fine with a custom build and the small upkeep that brings.
- Anyone who tried an AOSP ROM, missed the MIUI camera and the MIUI feel, and wants to come home.
What you need before you start
- An unlocked bootloader. Yes, you need it. There is no way around it.
- A full backup. This wipes your data. Treat it as a fresh start.
- Platform tools on your PC, so fastboot and adb are available if you need them.
- The right recovery for your device. A recovery image built for a different model will not help.
- The vbmeta file if the method you follow expects it.
- No root needed. Root is optional here, and the build is fine without it.
Getting back to stock
You can go back. A fastboot package for your exact model is the route home, flashed over the cable. It wipes the phone again, so plan for two fresh setups if you decide the EU build is not for you.
If the driver and platform tools side of this is the part that puts you off, the free Rom Flasher tool on GitHub bundles the ADB and fastboot driver install into a couple of clicks. It is free, and the link is in the downloads section.
One last thought. Do a clean boot and finish setup before you restore anything. That way, if something is going to break, it breaks on an empty phone rather than on top of two hours of restored files.

Full description from the video
EU MIUI 14.0.1.0 running on the Xiaomi 11T Pro — a full look at the build, what it changes, and who it actually suits.
The EU builds are a community take on MIUI rather than a stock global package, so the expectations going in are a little different. What I care about is what the ROM does to the things I touch every hour: the notification shade, the launcher, the camera app, and how quickly the whole thing wakes up from a cold start. A version number on a page tells you nothing. Time on the device tells you everything.

Common questions
Do I need an unlocked bootloader for EU MIUI 14?
Yes. There is no way around it, and unlocking the bootloader wipes the phone the first time. Back up everything before you start, because there is no way to unlock without losing internal storage.
Will flashing EU MIUI 14 wipe my data?
Yes. Treat it as a fresh start. Copy your photos, downloads and anything else you care about off the phone first, and expect the setup wizard on first boot.
Does EU MIUI 14 need root?
No. Root is optional on this build and it works fine without it. Only bother with root if you have a specific reason, because it makes some banking apps unhappy.
Can I go back to stock MIUI after flashing EU MIUI?
Yes. A fastboot package for your exact model is the route back, flashed over the cable. It wipes the phone again, so plan for a second fresh setup.
Is EU MIUI 14.0.1.0 official Xiaomi software?
No. EU builds are a community take on MIUI, based on Xiaomi's release, not a package Xiaomi ships itself. That is why you get options and a cleaner preload that stock does not have.
Before you flash
- Back up everything you would miss — unlocking and flashing usually wipe the phone.
- Check the file is built for your exact model and region.
- Keep a PC and a working cable around so a bootloop can be recovered.
